The delivery includes two practical weighing pans and a 20g weight with which you can readjust the scale at any time. Plus a bag for transport and storage.
Weighing units: You can use the UNIT key to switch the display between grams (g), ounces (oz), troy ounces for gold and coins (otz), carats for diamonds (ct), (dwt) or grain for measuring powder during reloading (dw). The scale then automatically converts the weight.
Housing, platform and display: The housing of the scale is made of high-quality plastic. The size of the entire scale is 138 × 70 × 32 mm. The weighing surface measures F 45 mm. The weight is indicated in the LCD display with touch control with very easy-to-read 20 mm digits. The special feature of this scale is the draft shield built into the hinged protective cover, which protects the sensitive electronics from gusts of wind and enables the best possible results.
Additional weighing function: To tare the balance, for example after you have set up an empty pan and now want to measure the content, all you need to do is press ON / OFF / TARE. The scale jumps back to "0" and you can add the ingredient.
Power supply: You can use the scales with 4 standard AAA batteries (already included in the scope of delivery).
Sensor: The FC series works with a strain gauge load cell with a capacity of 20 g and a readability of 0.001 g. We recommend a minimum weight of 0.01g for the best possible results.
Usage notice:
We refer to the FC series as our entry-level laboratory balances.
Despite the very good price-performance ratio, we would like to point out that the word "entry level" is of great importance in this price range. The FC series does not serve as laboratory scales.
Many important properties, such as a housing that protects against electrical radiation, stability compensators or an offset load-compensated load cell are not possible in terms of price.
We developed this scale so that e.g. collectors can determine the weight of your coins and other small, solid objects as cheaply and precisely as possible. Also on the go, e.g. at the flea market to check the goods directly at the dealer. For us, the FC is one of the household products, along with normal kitchen scales and inexpensive pocket scales. It is not designed for frequent continuous use.
When you weigh a ring, the weight is shown as 12.345g on the display. This weight is now "frozen" in the display. This prevents the displayed value from running away with every slight movement on the table, drafts from breathing or radiation. The small plastic housing does not provide any shielding against radiation from e.g. mobile phones.
The scales only notice a new measurement when there is a major change in weight. And shows the changed weight in the display.
If you use the scales for dosing, this has the disadvantage that not every added milligram appears in the display. The weight "jumps" to a new value when slowly adding 1mg each. For example from 0.100 grams to 0.105 grams.
If you want to dose exactly to 0.105mg, proceed as follows (we use powder as an example):
- fill powder into the bowl until e.g. 0.1g is reached
- now take the bowl off
- then add a tiny amount
- put the bowl back on
The scale now carries out a complete measurement and is able to determine the weight of e.g. 0.103mg. If something is still missing, take it off again, add it and put it back on again.
