The PSB-B was developed as a parcel scale or personal scale with a very high resolution. The 32 * 38 cm weighing surface (stainless steel) is located on a robust frame made of one piece of cast aluminum, under which the 4 newly developed strain gauge sensors (one per foot) are located. These allow a construction height of only 4.5cm. The display with green LED digits is connected by a 1.5 meter spiral cable and can be operated with a power supply unit (included) or AA batteries.
Of course, the scale can do all the usual functions such as TARE, weight display as kg / lb and counting and, like the similar scales PSB and PSE, has the setting menu in which you can adjust the automatic switch-off (save energy in battery operation), the sensitivity and vibration filter according to your needs. This enables, for example, very fast response times when dosing on the scales or the most stable measurement values possible despite poor ambient conditions by filtering out small deviations or calculating the mean value for weighing slightly fluctuating objects or people.
Differences between the models:
PSB-60B: Measuring range up to 60kg with 1g steps (e.g .: 59.995kg -> 59.996kg -> 59.997kg ...). Recommended minimum weight: 0.05kg (50g). Perfect scales for the complete dispatch, from compact letters to the largest possible package.
PSB-100B: Measuring range up to 100kg with 5g steps (e.g .: 95.930kg -> 95.935kg -> 95.940kg ...). Recommended minimum weight: 0.1kg (100g). Universally applicable and also sufficiently accurate as a normal parcel scale.
PSB-200B: measuring range up to 200kg with 10g steps (e.g .: 195.93kg -> 195.94kg -> 195.95kg ...). Recommended minimum weight: 0.2kg (200g). Largest measuring range of this series, can also be used as personal scales.

* Linearity: Measurement errors that can occur in certain areas of the measuring range in which the scales determine too much or too little weight.
** Reproducibility: Measurement errors that can occur if you put the same static weight on several times.
*** The scales are adjusted before packing and delivered ready for use. The weight is required if you want to readjust the scale yourself on site and is not included in the scope of delivery.
Otherwise: As with all of our scales, form follows function. Our scales are (measuring) tools, not decorative objects.
With this scale, this applies in particular to the stainless steel surface. To avoid misunderstandings: It is on it so that a thorough cleaning of the otherwise rough frame made of painted aluminum is possible and to make the weighing surface more robust against abrasion when used frequently. The fact that the steel still shines nicely, at least immediately after delivery, is irrelevant for the scales. It is a V2A plate that is intended for industrial applications. It is punched out of large sheet metal in a large press with the protective film with which we receive the delivery from the steelworks and attached to the scales as it falls out of there. You do not pay any extra charge for the scales to be polished again or for us to dispose of the old protective film, put another nice, healthy film on it that you can remove at home and dispose of there.
Of course, small bumps or scratches can also remain in the steel after the press and it is normal for the weighing surface to continue to be scratched during operation. However: slower and less powerful, like a pure aluminum made from without a cast platform that we build into the PSB.
Differentiation from scales such as the PSE, PSB or TC-K:
The specialty of the PSB-B is of course the high resolution of 1g to 60kg, or 10g to 200kg, for the low price of less than 100 €
60kg / 1g are generally nothing new, the TC has been able to do that for a long time. But: only for 5 times the price.
Even the PSE75 (note: the normal PSE without the "B" at the end) is 10 times more inaccurate with its 10g steps above 25kg than the PSE60B with 1g steps, although it is just as big and yet more expensive.
That means: The scale is more precise than the more expensive PSE and flatter than the cheaper PSB. Is there any reason to buy one of the other scales at all?
In all honesty: Partly no. The new PSB-B currently offers the best price-performance from our range based on the pure weight calculation.
However:
Just like in the even cheaper PSB, 4 sensors are installed, directly in the feet of the scale. That means: The weight on top must be distributed as evenly as possible over all 4 feet and a 60kg package only becomes 20kg, which is calculated by each load cell. And 4 load cells with 20kg can actually be manufactured more cheaply than a load cell with 60kg that reacts to 1g changes. The above tolerances can therefore only be achieved if the weight is correctly distributed over all 4 feet. If the load is uneven (e.g. too far on the edge), the weight is not determined evenly. For the same reason, it is necessary that the scales always have a hard and level surface, such as a stable packing table, tiles or parquet. Only there results are achieved within the tolerances described in the technical data. A soft surface, such as carpeting, causes the weight display to fluctuate permanently.
For comparison: a more expensive PSE or TC-K is based on a two-part frame that stands on height-adjustable feet. In the middle of the frame is a single corner load compensated load cell. The actual measurement takes place in how much the upper frame is pressed onto the lower frame and what it looks like under the feet is relatively irrelevant to the load cell. This makes the scales usable everywhere, on a packing table in the warehouse as well as at home on carpet and on construction in earth, gravel and dirt. It is only important that the scales are aligned as straight as possible and free of tilting over the feet.
Experience has shown that this one large, stable load cell is more durable than a smaller one, especially when you consider that the failure of one of the 4 coordinated sensors means the failure of the entire scale. And the fact that an error occurs earlier or later in one of the 4 sensors is inevitably 4 times as high with 4 sensors.
For this reason, we recommend the PSB-B only for use with up to 100,000 measuring processes. More than in the PSB, but less than with the PSE are possible.
