Difference between an external and an internal adjustment:
For an external adjustment, you need a special reference weight that is more accurate than the scale can determine the weight, e.g. a 100g weight with a tolerance of less than 0.0001g (which then of course must never be touched with your fingers, since a fingerprint on the weight might already as heavy to cause a wrong weight of the test weight). With this weight, the scale "learns" how heavy a weight of 100g is and adjusts itself correctly.
Note that every measurement device can only be as accurate as the environment conditions allow it to work, so even the smallest changes in the environment can affect the measurement result, in particular the temperature. This, for example, has an effect on the resistance in the electrical components and therefore on the measurement signal.
Therefore, it is important that you regularly adjust your balance. In an air-conditioned laboratory room which has 24/7 a constant temperature this is rarely necessary.
In a normal room, e.g. In the summer when the sun is shining through the window, or in the winter due to the night reduction of the heating, the room will warm up over the day and the calibration process has to be repeated regularly in order to obtain always constant measuring results.
Each adjustment process means a disruption of your process and in the long term, correspondingly higher laboratory costs.
But: The biggest problem is that you do not know when an adjustment is required, when it is done too late it can lead to a wrong weighing result.
This means: For a process in which a scale is rarely used, you can use a cheaper scale scale with an external adjustment and calibrate the scale before every usage.
If the scale is used frequently, we suggest a scale that has an automatic adjustment mechanism of the JJ-BF series that operates time and temperature controlled.
When the balance detects a change in the ambient temperature of more than 1.5 ° C (or at the latest after 3 hours) the adjustment will be triggered automatically. You can finish your current measuring process; the next time the balance is unloaded, the adjustment begins.
You will see the message "CAL" in the display for about 30 seconds and hear the sound of the engine that is moving the reference weight, afterwards the balance is ready for use again.
Alternatively, you can deactivate the automatic start of the adjustment and / or start it immediately by pushing the CAL-Button. Additionally, you can of course also adjust the balance with external test weights.
The exact technical details of the individual models can be found in the technical data sheet.
