Design
In this kitchen scale of the KH series, we again use the strain gauge measuring sensors which we have newly developed for our PSB-B and which allow a much flatter design than required by the old versions with the classic "double bending beam".
In other respects, too, a great deal has been taken over from the package scale for our KH. The actual platform, of which only the silver frame at the edge is visible, consists of a piece of cast aluminum. The 4 sensors are then screwed under this frame.
Also under this platform is the control board with the three buttons and the LED display with self-luminous digits. The three keys protrude from the platform at the lateral edge. Operation is still possible even when the entire weighing surface is covered.
The arrangement in the 90° angle offers at the same time the best protection against dirt or humidity, if you operate the key with a damp finger, the liquid simply runs down and drips on the ground and does not reach immediately the inside of the balance *.
The top of the scale is fully coated with a sturdy film (The material from which the protective glasses for cell phone displays are made: Not quite as scratch resistant as normal glass, but slightly flexible and therefore impact resistant. Very important when there is a risk of heavy objects being jerkily set down / slipping out of the hand and hitting the screen).
This is, with the exception of the transparent area under which the display is located, painted black from below.
The entire surface is therefore completely protected against dirt and moisture, there is no edge between the platform and display in which dirt or moisture can get, the scale can be easily cleaned with a wet cloth. *
Functions
TARE:
Set display to 0 after placing a dish, then fill in the contents.
Scale displays only the contents in the bowl.
Or: 250g are needed from a package of flour? Simply place the full bowl, tare and now remove the required amount with a spoon. Scale shows the lighter weight as "- 250g".
UNIT
Change weight units, possible are kilograms (kg), grams (g) and English pounds (lb)
ON/OFF
Turns the scale on and off, for example if you have deactivated the auto power off function.
Settings menu
Allows to adjust the main parameters of the scale to your way of working.
C1 = reaction speed:
0 = Dosing mode, very fast weight calculation. 4 = Slow but reliable average calculation over several seconds. For poor ambient conditions or animal weighing.
C2 = Filter:
0 = Dosing mode, no filter, any change (and disturbance) is indicated. 3 = For solid & heavy objects whose weight does not change on the scale. For animals. For poor environmental conditions.
C4 = Display illumination.
0 = normal. 1 = higher luminosity, but also higher power consumption.
Calibration / Adjustment?
The scale is of course calibrated and delivered ready for use before packing. Should the scale ever become misaligned and no longer display the correct weight, the KH can of course be readjusted. However, a special calibration weight is needed, which costs more than the scale (20kg of accuracy class M1 or better).

* Note: It is about occasional damp when cleaning, accidentally spilled materials or light dirt, which falls in the scope as a kitchen scale in private households. The KH is not completely waterproof, do not allow liquid to enter the scale from below. If you plan a long-term use in rooms with humidity >80% r.H. or is foreseeable that the scale is completely wet / submerged, a scale with protection class IP67 is required.
